Benchmarks for those of you buying new high end video card(s)
This article is a couple weeks old but I figured it would be useful here as people are often asking/wondering what card to buy. As can be seen the performance differences between Nvidia's and ATI's best products is virtually null. There are certain games where one exceeds the other for instance Nvidia dominates in Quake 4 but then the same could probably said about ATI for another game. Sample chart of many and link to start of review are below. DO NOT turn this into a flame thread because as I said it's pretty much even.

i dont buy a card based totally on speed/performance - i buy it based on customer service, past experiences with said manufacturer, and picture quality..
ATI wins hands down in my book...

Good Points...don't forget Price vs. Performance either.

Nvidia may have the edge in framerate, but...that framerate will only last 10 minutes before your pc crashes :P
They're still far too unstable.

LoL I've never had problems with Nvidia cards...6600...6600 GT 256 mb which I have now...
On the other hand, my Radeon 9600 SE, 9600 Pro, 9800 Pro and X1600 Pro all crashed every 10 minuts... :/

I could never justify to myself buying top end cards, simply too much money for something that isn't essential..so maybe this is where our experiences differ.
I had a FX5700, and one of the mid 6600's, and they were both utter crap when it came to reliability.
The last two ATi cards ive had are the Radeon 9550 and X850 Pro..and they are both wonderful cards.

i would use omega drivers for ati and Nvidia's there much better!!! than the factory drivers although you must totally remove any ati or nvidias; drivers prior to install, far more stable and good for overclockers!

Except Omega's stopped supporting Nvidia with Det version 66.xx, which was nearly a year ago, so none of the newer GPU's are supported.

I think if they bench programs and general perfomance, isntead of just gaming, we could see a completely different set of results.
All round perfomance FTW

Here are some great custom drivers for Nvidia cards. A lot of people swear by them because they increase IQ without losing any performance and sometimes increasing it.
